Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction is a musculoskeletal condition characterized by pain and tenderness in the muscles and surrounding connective tissues known as fascia. It commonly develops due to muscle overuse, stress, injury, or poor posture, leading to the formation of trigger points—sensitive knots within the muscle fibers that can cause localized or referred pain. Patients often experience muscle stiffness, reduced range of motion, fatigue, and discomfort that may worsen with movement or stress. Diagnosis is primarily clinical, based on patient history and physical examination. Treatment typically includes physical therapy, stretching exercises, massage therapy, medications for pain relief, stress management, and lifestyle modifications aimed at reducing muscle tension and improving function.
